Tuticorin Book Fair Commences, MP Kanimozhi Highlights the Importance of Reading

According to Tuticorin MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, a community becomes awake and conscious of itself when reading becomes a habit. She said this while opening the fourth Tuticorin Book Fair on Friday. "Leaders who developed our country were all great thinkers and habituated to reading books," she remarked.

From April 21 to May 1, the annual Neithal festival, which honors the coastal region, will be held on the Sangaraperi grounds under the auspices of the district administration and the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI). Kanimozhi opened the district's Porunai River Civilization exhibition, which features findings from archaeological digs in Sivakalai, Adichanallur, and Korkai.

The state archaeological department's event features trench models and items discovered at these locations. Another part of the book fair is a photo exhibition on Tuticorin comprising 60 of the greatest pictures captured by local photographers.

Rajeev Menon, a film director, will decide which images deserve prizes.

More than a lakh books from 110 publishers are on show at the expo, according to Kanimozhi, who urged people to support it, especially students. Even while the next generation of technology, e-books, is expanding, paper books are becoming more and more common.

On various issues, there will be seminars led by public speakers, writers, journalists, and social workers. The district administration has announced free bus service to the location of the book fair, and there will be a stop there for all buses using the route. Additionally, there will be satellite locations for the fair at the memorials for the writer Ki Rajanarayanan in Kovilpatti, the poet Mahakavi Bharathi in Ettayapuram, and the politician Si Pa Aditanar in Tiruchendur.
